PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lucius Bjorn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ty Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bjorn kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Opeth - Deliverance. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A right-left combo lands from Bjorn.

It looks like Ty Carter has been cut.
Carter fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Carter blocks an uppercut.
Bjorn lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Bjorn lands a shoulder strike.

Carter has Bjorn pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bjorn manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Still in the clinch, Bjorn scores with a nice short uppercut.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Carter content to stall in guard here.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Carter avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Carter.
Lucius Bjorn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ty Carter.
Bjorn throws a right hand that Carter ducks under and follows up with a left that Carter also avoids with ease.
Bjorn misses with a series of wild punches.
Bjorn takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Carter enables Bjorn to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Carter manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Bjorn has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Bjorn throws and elbow that misses. Carter uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bjorn's guard. Nice move by Carter!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bjorn wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Carter manages to pass to side control.
Carter seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Bjorn tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Carter manages to move to mount!

Let's hope that Carter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That was a close round but I would say that Lucius Bjorn will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Ty Carter's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Bjorn misses with a looping left.
Bjorn throws a series of punches but Carter moves out of range.
Lucius Bjorn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carter drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carter prevents Bjorn from getting back to his feet.

Carter stands and steps away. Bjorn gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Bjorn tries to control Carter's body but Carter pushes him off. Bjorn squirms to his side and now Carter has his back!

Carter has got one arm under Bjorn's chin. This could be trouble... Bjorn trying to control the other hand but Carter gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Bjorn has tapped out! The fight is over!
