Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Salvador Cannon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Martin Legeld! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Dean Styles and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cannon just misses with a punch to the body.
Legeld gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily enabling Cannon to counter with a crisp jab. Legeld with a lazy takedown attempt and Cannon counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Cannon. Cannon content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Legeld changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cannon fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Salvador Cannon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martin Legeld. Legeld doesn't succeed with the takedown and Cannon cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Cannon looks to land a combination but Legeld avoids it well. Legeld doesn't succeed with the takedown and Cannon counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round. Legeld tries for a takedown but Cannon circles away easily and Cannon cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Cannon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Legeld moves away. Cannon scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Legeld is rocked! Cannon stuns Legeld with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Legeld looks gassed! Cannon closes the distance and clinches. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The referee is keeping an eye on Cannon - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Legeld tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Legeld can't get the takedown.
Cannon slowing the pace effectively. Legeld is trying desperately to land a takedown but Cannon is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Legeld. Cannon working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Cannon is struggling to control the position. Cannon lands with a left to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cannon avoiding damage.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Salvador Cannon. Cannon bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Legeld has his takedown stuffed and Cannon scores with a counter punch that sends Legeld to the canvas! Cannon smells blood - he's punishing Legeld with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Legeld has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Salvador Cannon!
