Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ray Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonard Starnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fernandez's entrance music is Pantera "Walk". A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ray Fernandez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Leonard Starnes! The judges for this bout are , and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! An inside leg kick from Fernandez misses. Starnes throws a series of punches but Fernandez avoids them all with ease. Starnes lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Fernandez keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Fernandez throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Starnes makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Fernandez throws a left and a right that both miss
and Starnes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Starnes throws a nice looking combination but Fernandez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Fernandez throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Starnes counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. A jab-cross combination lands for Fernandez and sends Starnes crashing to the mat! Fernandez follows him down to the mat - Starnes regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
It looks like Leonard Starnes has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Fernandez is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Fernandez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Fernandez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Starnes sees it coming and defends easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fernandez stalling. Fernandez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Starnes for as long as he can get away with. Fernandez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Fernandez passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Starnes! Fernandez lands with some strikes. Fernandez controlling from the full mount. Starnes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fernandez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Starnes is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Fernandez locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Starnes is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ray Fernandez!
