Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, John Armstrong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rocky Suarez! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Colin Fotheringham and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Armstrong. No joy for Suarez on that attempt. A head kick misses from Suarez. Armstrong darts in trying to clinch and Suarez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Armstrong's guard. Suarez stands and steps away. Armstrong gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. No joy there for Suarez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Armstrong closes the distance but Suarez moves to the side and Suarez counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Suarez. This has been an exciting period of action! Suarez trying to control but Armstrong is working from the bottom. Suarez tries to free his leg and advance position but Armstrong is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Suarez trying to control but Armstrong is working from the bottom. Armstrong wants to get back to his feet but Suarez is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Armstrong might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Rocky Suarez wasn't active enough on the ground. Armstrong darts in trying to clinch and Suarez counters with a three punch combo that has Armstrong backing up. Armstrong nods at Suarez to acknowledge the strikes. Armstrong closes the distance but Suarez moves to the side and Suarez counters with an inside leg kick. Armstrong wants to clinch and Suarez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Armstrong won't be happy with that. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Armstrong tries to escape but Suarez is in control. Suarez taking a breather here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Suarez is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Armstrong is trying to escape and Suarez transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Armstrong is forced to tap! Nice work there by Suarez! Very nice indeed!
