Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nova Uniao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Armstrong's choice of entrance music: We Were Soldiers by Sgt. Mackenzie. Craig Armstrong told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, William Gold and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armstrong shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Armstrong keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Uniao's head.
Uniao trying to keep a closed guard but Armstrong is proving a slippery customer.
Armstrong throws and elbow that misses. Uniao uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Armstrong's guard. Nice move by Uniao!

Uniao stands and throws Armstrong's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Uniao connects with a nice short shot to Armstrong's temple.

Armstrong had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Uniao defends it easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Nova Uniao will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Armstrong manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Armstrong seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Uniao does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Uniao is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Armstrong's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Armstrong's back!
Uniao is landing with strikes. Armstrong can't take much more of this.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Uniao is on top in guard.
Uniao drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Armstrong manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Uniao has Armstrong in his guard.

Uniao looking to hit a scissor sweep but Armstrong is one step ahead there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Uniao seems to have got his legs back now.
Armstrong cracks Uniao with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
