Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcus Karlsson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Fedorov!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Illya Tyunina and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Karlsson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fedorov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Fedorov looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Fedorov is trying to escape the position but Karlsson is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Karlsson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Karlsson really is a fat lump.
Karlsson scores with a couple of short elbows.

Karlsson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Fedorov tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Karlsson decides to stand back up.

Karlsson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Fedorov wants to break the clinch but can't.
Fedorov is pressed up against the cage. Karlsson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Fedorov down to the mat. Fedorov avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Karlsson rushes Fedorov and presses him up against the cage.

Karlsson has clasped his hands together around Fedorov's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Fedorov tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Karlsson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Fedorov can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Karlsson scoring with strikes but Fedorov is staying in there.
Fedorov tries to reverse the position but Karlsson maintains control.

Fedorov throws a strike from the bottom but Karlsson uses the opportunity to take his back.
Fedorov is trying to stand back up.
Karlsson trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Karlsson controlling well, preventing Fedorov from escaping the position.
Fedorov is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Karlsson is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Karlsson is working the ground and pound. Can Fedorov escape?

Fedorov tries to break free.
Fedorov trying to control the action but Karlsson just sinks the hooks in.
Fedorov tries to escape the position.
Fedorov takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Fedorov rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Karlsson is tying to control. Fedorov wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Karlsson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Karlsson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fedorov is looking to escape.
Fedorov can't escape the position.
Karlsson content just to control the position here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Karlsson cracks Fedorov with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Karlsson postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Fedorov looks a forlorn figure.
Karlsson looking to control and managing it successfully.
Karlsson trying to control but Fedorov is having none of it.
Karlsson avoids the attempt from Fedorov to control.
Fedorov is wriggling around trying to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Karlsson dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Karlsson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Fedorov throws a nice looking combination but Karlsson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Fedorov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Karlsson takes the fight into the clinch.
Karlsson tries to pull guard but Fedorov won't allow it.
Karlsson tries to score a body lock takedown but Fedorov shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Karlsson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fedorov tries for a takedown. No joy.

Karlsson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Karlsson on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Fedorov's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Fedorov duly obliges.
Karlsson misses with a combination
and Fedorov counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Fedorov tries to clinch but Karlsson moves away

and Karlsson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fedorov's guard now.
Fedorov can't keep his opponent in guard - Karlsson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Karlsson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Fedorov is just riding it out for now. Karlsson eventually gives up the hold.
Fedorov is looking for a sweep. Karlsson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fedorov looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Karlsson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Karlsson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Fedorov is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
BOOM! Karlsson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Fedorov is working to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fedorov tries to hold on but Karlsson postures up.
Fedorov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Karlsson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Karlsson tries to control but Fedorov wriggling away.
Fedorov wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Karlsson.

Karlsson stands up from mount. Strange move.

Karlsson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Karlsson in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Fedorov tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Karlsson presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Karlsson avoids the attempt from Fedorov to control.
Karlsson looking to control but Fedorov is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Karlsson controlling the position easily from mount.
Karlsson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee warns Fedorov that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Marcus Karlsson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Karlsson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Karlsson swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
