Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Taj Mahal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Liberius Beowulf! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Beowulf connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Mahal blocks a low kick nicely. Mahal is trying hard to land a takedown here. Beowulf sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Mahal takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Mahal misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Beowulf counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Beowulf scores with a nice right hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mahal pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Beowulf's corner calls for a 1-2. Beowulf obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Mahal misses with a combination
and Beowulf counters with a thumping low kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mahal throws a lazy head kick and Beowulf counters with a body kick that stops Mahal in his tracks momentarily. Mahal is breathing heavily. Mahal takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Beowulf scores with a kick to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A shot to the liver by Beowulf. Beautiful body shot. Beowulf lands a big head kick that sends Mahal tumbling to the mat! Beowulf takes a step backwards and waves Mahal back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Mahal is rocked!
It looks like Taj Mahal has been cut. Beowulf drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Mahal's head, knocking him out cold! Beowulf is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Liberius Beowulf!
