PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pascal Lafevre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Imyth Pear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lafevre kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Allen by Steve. The key to victory for Pascal Lafevre has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pascal Lafevre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Imyth Pear!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lafevre tries to clinch up.

Lafevre gets caught flat footed, as Pear shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Lafevre wants to get back to his feet but Pear is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Pear is stalling in the full guard.
Lafevre is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Lafevre being controlled here, momentarily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Imyth Pear has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Lafevre tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Pear manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Pear shoots in and bounces Lafevre off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Pear is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Pear's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Imyth Pear.
Pear shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lafevre but Lafevre pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Lafevre slaps away a takedown attempt from Pear, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Lafevre lands with a right hand.
Lafevre wants to clinch up but Pear keeps it at a distance.
Lafevre moves in looking to clinch but Pear pushes him off.
Lafevre uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pear.
Lafevre will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pear swats away the attempt to clinch by Lafevre.

Pear takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Pear throws a sloppy body shot

and Lafevre counters with a nice right hand that sends Pear toppling to the canvas! Pear scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Lafevre finish him?!


Pear is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pear avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Pear throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lafevre was covering up waiting for the punch and Pear finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Pear passes into half guard.
Pear is controlling the pace.

Pear stands up out of the half guard.
Imyth Pear seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pear avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pear is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lafevre's half guard.

Lafevre is looking to regain half guard here but Pear keeps moving and retains side control.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Imyth Pear was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Pear feints and as Lafevre raises his hands in defense, Pear changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Pear gets to his feet - Lafevre follows without any prompting.

Pear shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lafevre napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Imyth Pear has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lafevre is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Pear has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Pear takes a little break here. Lafevre wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Lafevre wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Imyth Pear hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Pear keeps the fight on the outside.
Pear shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Pear closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pear lands in his opponent's guard.
Pear slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lafevre is looking to stand up but Pear isn't so interested in that idea.
Pear advances to half guard.

Pear decides to stand and escape the position.

Pear shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lafevre napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Pear just content to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Imyth Pear showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Lafevre's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Pear closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pear lands in his opponent's guard.
Pear seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Lafevre will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Imyth Pear wasn't active enough on the ground.
Donk. Lafevre catches Pear right on the button with a cross.

Pear gets a double leg takedown into Lafevre's guard.
Lafevre can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pear controls the pace.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Imyth Pear hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Pear swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Lafevre counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Pear takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lafevre fails in his attempt to clinch.
Pear avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lafevre tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pear swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lafevre tries to clinch but Pear is having none of it.
Pear's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Lafevre connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Pear scrambles back to his feet.
Pear looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Pear prevents Lafevre from improving his position.

Lafevre moves into full guard.

Lafevre is working an open guard so Pear takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Lafevre tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pear is defended easily by Lafevre.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pear fails with a takedown attempt.
Pascal Lafevre has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Imyth Pear.

Pear swats away the attempt to clinch by Lafevre.

Pear shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lafevre is trying to defend but Pear finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Well, if Pear is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
