The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Michaels misses with a takedown attempt
and Carlton counters with a straight right hand.
Carlton gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Michaels tries to free his leg and advance position but Carlton is retaining full guard.
Carlton controls Michaels momentarily but Michaels frees himself.
Michaels drops back looking for a leg! Carlton is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Carlton manages to kick Michaels off! Michaels jumps back into Carlton's guard.
Carlton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Michaels thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Michaels is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Carlton doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Michaels.

Michaels is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Michaels extends the arm and Carlton is forced to tap!
