PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alex Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Smelly Fingers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: My boomerang won't come back. Alex Murphy is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Murphy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Smelly Fingers!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy misses with a low kick as Fingers jumps back.
Murphy wants to clinch but Fingers slips to the side

and Fingers counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fingers must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Murphy had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fingers defends it easily.
Fingers connects with a couple of short punches.
Fingers is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Murphy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Smelly Fingers wasn't active enough on the ground.

Murphy gets caught flat footed, as Fingers shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Smelly Fingers has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Fingers dives in and scores a takedown into Murphy's guard.
Fingers controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
It looks like Fingers might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Fingers drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Smelly Fingers has got the better of the ground game so far.
Murphy is trying to control the position but Fingers postures up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Fingers decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Murphy's guard.

Murphy is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Smelly Fingers hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Fingers fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Murphy to the ground. Fingers is now in Murphy's guard.

Fingers sitting in guard here, content to control.
Fingers is in close to Murphy's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Fingers not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Smelly Fingers was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Fingers bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Fingers lands some shots froms side control.
Fingers is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Murphy's shoulder. That is not cool.

The referee warns Murphy that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
BOOM! Fingers connects with a massive shot to the dome!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smelly Fingers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Murphy enables Fingers to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Murphy manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Smelly Fingers comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Fingers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
