Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kaarel Valtna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kaarel Valtna could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Matt Ryan's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Matt Ryan! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ryan has his takedown stuffed and Valtna counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ryan! Ryan defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Valtna. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ryan can do anything to dispel that myth. Ryan wants to hold on but Valtna pushes him away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Valtna working for a submission but Ryan is keeping him at bay. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ryan tries to lock up and control but Valtna gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Valtna wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ryan, who protects the arm well. Ryan is trying to control Valtna's posture but Valtna avoids it. Valtna landing a few strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valtna stands up and beckons Ryan to his feet. Ryan shoots for a double leg takedown but Valtna sprawls well. He's pushed Ryan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Ryan is looking to clinch but Valtna is avoiding it.
Valtna closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ryan did well to prevent Valtna getting side control. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Valtna in particular looking to stall. Valtna tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ryan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Ryan trying to control from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Ryan is not content to let Valtna control the position. Ryan holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Ryan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Valtna is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ryan is just riding it out for now. Valtna eventually gives up the hold. Valtna passes to side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Valtna manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. The fight stays on the outside here - Ryan looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Valtna with a poor takedown and Ryan counters with a single leg into guard. Valtna didn't expect that. Ryan postures up.
Valtna is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ryan is controlling him. Valtna throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Ryan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Valtna. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Valtna is on top in guard.

Kaarel Valtna overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Valtna has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ryan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Valtna is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Valtna has control of Ryan's left arm, preventing Ryan from doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Ryan trying to control the position from guard on top but Valtna is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ryan trying to stand up but can't free himself from Valtna's guard. Ryan wants to control from the top but Valtna keeps moving. Ryan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Matt Ryan has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Valtna closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Valtna lands in his opponent's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valtna passes Ryan's left leg - he's now in half guard. Valtna wants to stand but Ryan has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Valtna is thwarting Ryan's attempts to control the position. Ryan is looking to escape. Valtna trying to pass the guard but Ryan defending well. Ryan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Valtna is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ryan sees it coming and defends easily. Valtna is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Valtna has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Valtna is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ryan to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ryan shrugs it off. Ryan is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Kaarel Valtna will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Valtna cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Ryan tries to hold on but Valtna postures up. Valtna lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Ryan hang on? Valtna thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

That's one minute gone in the round. Ryan tries to clinch up but Valtna circles away and keeps his distance. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Valtna. Ryan misses with a takedown and Valtna counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Valtna looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Valtna is keen to just control but Ryan is a slippery customer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryan wants to get back to full guard. Valtna uses his free foot to push down on Ryan's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ryan. Ryan tries to hold on but Valtna pushes him away. Valtna is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Ryan is surviving well by controlling Valtna's body position as best he can. Ryan really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Valtna is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ryan pulls him back up using the underhooks. Ryan has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Valtna is trying to keep an underhook but Ryan manages to get the takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Valtna tries to roll over but Ryan keeps him under control. Valtna manages to get to full guard.

And that's the end of the fight! Kaarel Valtna showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Valtna, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
