Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Freddie James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rory Melson!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melson shoots in looking for a takedown. James tries to sprawl out of it but Melson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. James manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Melson fails in his attempt to clinch.
James tries for a takedown but Melson circles away easily
letting Melson counter with a right hand.


It looks like Freddie James has been cut.
A combination from James does no damage.
Freddie James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Melson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
James is looking to control Melson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can James avoid being mounted?
James is doing well to control the position and prevent Melson from advancing to side control.
James trying to control but Melson postures up.
Melson wants to control but James is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Melson scores with a jab to the head.
A combination from James does no damage.

Melson gets the takedown into side control.
Melson throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
James is not content to let Melson control the position.
James struggling a bit here.

Melson swings around for an armbar but James sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Melson's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James trying to control but Melson is working from the bottom.
James slips nicely into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Melson can do anything to dispel that myth.
James works his foot free and advances to mount.
Melson looks gassed!
James prevents Melson from getting the reversal.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

James looking to isolate an arm here. Melson doesn't see it coming and as James extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by James!
