5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rush Syckes! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Syckes is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Cooper. Cooper checks the leg kick nicely there.
Syckes swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Syckes on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. A leg kick checked by Syckes. Syckes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cooper. Syckes is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. A swing and a miss from Syckes. Syckes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Jab from Cooper. Syckes misses with a left hand and Cooper counters with a three punch combo that has Syckes backing up. Syckes nods at Cooper to acknowledge the strikes.
Syckes is rocked! Syckes connects with a right hand. Cooper shakes it off. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cooper misses with a leg kick. Syckes doesn't succeed with the takedown and Syckes takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Syckes is still on wobbly legs! Can Cooper finish him? Rush Syckes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cooper bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Syckes seems to have recovered his senses. Syckes on the wrong end of a nice jab. Cooper tries to bum rush Syckes with a series of wild strikes but Syckes uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Syckes defending well as Cooper loads up on a big left hand. Cooper swinging wildly here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cooper throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Syckes. Cooper slips a jab and a cross from Syckes.

Syckes tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Cooper is able to avoid easily. Syckes swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Cooper counters with a nice uppercut. A big right from Syckes misses. Cooper misses with a straight left.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Syckes shoots in but no luck this time. Bobby Cooper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rush Syckes. Cooper keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Cooper tries to bum rush Syckes with a series of wild strikes but Syckes uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Cooper lands a glancing blow to the side of Syckes's head. Good standup being displayed there by Cooper as he connects with a hook. Cooper ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Syckes moves away. Cooper avoids the head kick by Syckes.

Cooper lands a left and a right that sends Syckes crashing to the canvas! Cooper dives into mount looking to finish! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cooper lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Cooper tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Syckes wants to control but Cooper is having none of it. Syckes looks gassed! BOOM! Cooper connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cooper unloading with bombs! Syckes wants to control but Cooper is having none of it. Cooper landing shots from mount. The referee warns Syckes that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Syckes tries to hold on but Cooper postures up. Syckes is trying to escape the mount.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Syckes can do anything to dispel that myth. A nice elbow there by Cooper. Cooper has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Syckes's face.
Cooper with a couple of short strikes. Syckes takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Cooper's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bobby Cooper!
