Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sack Hitch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Oliver Fran!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fran with a lazy takedown attempt
and Hitch counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fran is trying to control the position but Hitch postures up.
Hitch stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fran swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fran working a defensive guard here.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Oliver Fran wasn't active enough on the ground.
Hitch goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Fran slips a jab and a cross from Hitch.
Fran has his takedown stuffed
and Hitch counters with a three punch combo that has Fran backing up. Fran nods at Hitch to acknowledge the strikes.
Hitch throws a series of punches but Fran avoids them all with ease.
Fran doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Hitch counters with an outside leg kick.
Sack Hitch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Oliver Fran.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Hitch misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sack Hitch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fran shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hitch counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fran's guard now.
Hitch trying to control but Fran is working from the bottom.
Fran working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hitch.
Fran is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hitch thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Fran is controlling Hitch's posture.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hitch is sitting in close to Fran's body. Fran has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Hitch is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Hitch is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Fran.
