Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pekka Perkele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Koers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perkele comes to the cage accompanied by Danzig - I Don't Mind The Pain . Koers has chosen as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pekka Perkele!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Koers!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koers misses with a hook. Perkele ducked under it nicely.
Koers fails with the takedown
letting Perkele counter with a right hand.
Koers misses with an uppercut
and Perkele counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Perkele missing with a left hand there. Koers was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Koers swings widly with a right hand
and Perkele counters with a body kick.
Perkele connects with a nice looking jab.
Koers moves out of range of the leg kick from Perkele.
Koers moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Perkele thows a leg kick but Koers checks it
and Koers counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Perkele thinking.
Koers misses with a takedown attempt
and Perkele counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Koers closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Koers working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Perkele's thigh. Perkele counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Koers tries to free his leg and advance position but Perkele is retaining full guard.

Perkele is looking for a triangle but Koers pushes his legs off easily.
Koers wants to pass the guard but Perkele is keeping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Perkele pulls Koers in to control the position.
Koers passes into half guard.
Perkele has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Koers is working away from the top position though.
Perkele is staying active underneath Koers, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Koers working the head and body with strikes.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Koers connects with a nice short shot to Perkele's temple.
Perkele is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pekka Perkele dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Perkele thows a leg kick but Koers checks it
letting Koers counter with a right hand.
Koers doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Perkele counter with a right hand.
Perkele buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

An inside leg kick from Perkele misses.

Koers feints and as Perkele raises his hands in defense, Koers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Koers won't allow Perkele to sweep him here.

Perkele has his foot on Koers's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Koers works his way back into a safe position though.

Perkele not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Koers slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Koers tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Koers creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Perkele sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Perkele can't do much from the bottom here.
You can see the frustration on Perkele's face as Koers controls the position.
Koers throws a strike aimed at the side of Perkele's head but Perkele avoids it well.
Koers looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Perkele is avoiding damage well.
Koers misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Koers fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Koers trying to control the action but Perkele is working from the bottom.
Koers working the ground and pound from side control.
Perkele defending against the ground and pound.
Koers wants to control but Perkele is keeping him busy.
Perkele dodges the ground and pound from Koers.
Koers scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Perkele to see if he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Check out the look on Koers's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Perkele is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Koers off and has taken his back!

Koers looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Perkele has good solid back control here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Koers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

and Koers counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Perkele!
Perkele bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Koers trying to keep a closed guard but Perkele is proving a slippery customer.
Koers looking to control but Perkele passes into half guard.

Perkele wants to stand up but Koers manages to regain full guard.
Perkele wanted to stand there but Koers had control of the position.
Koers keeping moving, preventing Perkele from controlling successfully.
Jake Koers has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Koers managing to control the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Pekka Perkele wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Koers misses with a takedown
and Perkele counters with a stiff right hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sloppy strikes from Koers. Those never looked like landing.
Perkele lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Koers gets a double leg takedown into Perkele's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Koers wants to control from the top but Perkele keeps moving.
Koers looking to sit in guard and control but Perkele gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Koers not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Perkele wants to stand and escape but instead Koers has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jake Koers.
I think Koers has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
