The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmidt misses with the body kick
and Schmidt takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Schmidt looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Gimel shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Schmidt manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Gimel wants to pass the guard but Schmidt is keeping the position.
Gimel passes into half guard.
Gimel frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Gimel is looking to work his way around to Schmidt's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Gimel moves to the back position.
Gimel working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Schmidt is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Gimel has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Schmidt taps out!
