Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Niwa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksandr Fedorov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fedorov is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8kANB2XBYU&feature=related. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Aleksandr Fedorov was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Niwa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Aleksandr Fedorov! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yuuki Gou and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Niwa darts in trying to clinch and Fedorov decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Niwa's guard. Fedorov is looking to stand up but Niwa won't let him. Niwa looking to control.
Niwa is really struggling to control Fedorov but he's trying to hold on to the position. Niwa is looking for a triangle but Fedorov pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Niwa had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fedorov defends it easily. Fedorov is looking to stand up but Niwa won't let him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fedorov sitting in guard, not really doing much. Niwa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fedorov defends well. Fedorov tries to stand but Niwa is controlling from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Niwa controls Fedorov momentarily but Fedorov frees himself. Niwa is working an open guard so Fedorov takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Fedorov with a lazy takedown attempt and Niwa counters with a takedown into side control. Niwa is looking to take a break and control but Fedorov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Fedorov tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Niwa tries to score with some ground and pound. Fedorov controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Fedorov regains half guard. Niwa content to control rather than advance. Niwa prevents Fedorov from standing back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Niwa trying to pass the guard but Fedorov defending well. Fedorov wants to improve his position but Niwa is controlling well.
Fedorov is staying active underneath Niwa, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Fedorov is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Niwa jumps into side control! Fedorov wants to control but Niwa postures up. Niwa looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Fedorov wants to control but Niwa postures up. Niwa trying to control the position but Fedorov is working away. Fedorov tries to bench press Niwa off him but Niwa keeps the position. Fedorov looks to move to half guard but instead Niwa has passed into mount! Damn! Fedorov is looking to improve his position but Niwa isn't that keen on the idea. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Michael Niwa will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Niwa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fedorov was covering up waiting for the punch and Niwa finishes the takedown easily into guard. Niwa preventing the sweep. Niwa sitting in guard here, content to control. Fedorov wants to stand up but Niwa is controlling him. Fedorov wants to sweep but no luck.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fedorov controls Niwa momentarily but Niwa frees himself. Niwa trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Fedorov looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Niwa puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Fedorov tries to roll over but Niwa keeps him under control. Fedorov keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Fedorov is staying active underneath Niwa, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Fedorov tries to roll over but Niwa keeps him under control. Fedorov regains full guard. Nicely done. Niwa stopping the sweep attempt from Fedorov. Niwa won't allow Fedorov to get back to his feet. Niwa wants to control from the top but Fedorov keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Niwa tries to free his leg and advance position but Fedorov is retaining full guard. Niwa trying to control but Fedorov is working from the bottom. Fedorov keeping full guard, as Niwa tries to pass. Fedorov pulls Niwa in close to prevent any damage.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Niwa closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Fedorov to the mat! Fedorov manages to get full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fedorov trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Fedorov looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Fedorov keeping moving, preventing Niwa from controlling successfully. Fedorov wants to stand and escape but Niwa is having none of it. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Fedorov looking for a sweep. Not yet Fedorov, not yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Michael Niwa dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Niwa wants to clinch but Fedorov slips to the side and Fedorov counters with a takedown into side control. Niwa looks to move to half guard but instead Fedorov has passed into mount! Damn! Fedorov misses with a head shot. Fedorov avoids the attempt from Niwa to control. Niwa is in all sorts of trouble here.
Fedorov controlling the position easily from mount. Fedorov with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Michael Niwa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fedorov takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Niwa wants to hold on but Fedorov pushes him away. Niwa is trying to escape the mount.
Fedorov working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Niwa is trying desperately to improve position. Niwa tries to hold on but Fedorov pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Fedorov get's back to his feet. Fedorov feints and as Niwa raises his hands in defense, Fedorov changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Niwa working a defensive guard here.

Fedorov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Fedorov decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Fedorov with a lazy takedown attempt and Niwa counters with a single leg into guard. Fedorov didn't expect that. Fedorov pulls Niwa in close to his closed guard and prevents Niwa from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fedorov looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Niwa being controlled here momentarily. Niwa trying to control but Fedorov is working from the bottom. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Niwa trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Niwa wants to control from the top but Fedorov keeps moving.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Fedorov misses with a takedown attempt and Niwa counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fedorov's guard now. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fedorov is on top in guard.
Niwa tries to land a sweep but no joy. Fedorov not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Niwa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fedorov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fedorov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Fedorov preventing the sweep. Aleksandr Fedorov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Michael Niwa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Fedorov stands up from guard. Let's bang! Fedorov misses with a jab to the body
and Niwa counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Niwa.
And that's the end of the fight! Aleksandr Fedorov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Niwa has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
