PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Derek Hannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Flash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hannon comes to the ring accompanied by Back in Black by ACDC. Bobby Flash will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Derek Hannon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Bobby Flash!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Donald Grub and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hannon doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Flash decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hannon's guard.
Hannon is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Flash slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Hannon manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Flash wants to control but Hannon is having none of it.
Hannon misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hannon can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Flash is looking to escape.
Hannon throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Hannon thowing shots but they're missing.
Hannon controlling his opponent.
Hannon has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Flash's face.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Flash is squirming around, avoiding Hannon's attempts to control the action.
Hannon looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Derek Hannon wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Flash lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hannon takes a step back to recover.
Flash shoots and misses

and Hannon counters with a nice double leg into side control. Flash won't be happy with that.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Flash tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hannon wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ground and pound from Hannon seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Hannon is looking to take a break and control but Flash is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hannon decides to stand up, so the ref orders Flash to his feet.
Hannon swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Flash counters with a single leg into guard. Hannon didn't expect that.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hannon lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Flash!
Hannon can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Flash is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Derek Hannon will probably get the nod.

Hannon blocks a head kick by Flash.
Flash with a lazy takedown attempt

and Hannon counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Hannon decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Flash shoots and misses

and Hannon counters by moving into the clinch.
Flash throws a knee to the head but misses.

Hannon jumps into guard, dragging Flash to the mat.
Flash takes a decent strike to the side of the head.
Hannon seems keen to control Flash's posture.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hannon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hannon pulls Flash in close to prevent any damage.
Flash really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hannon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Derek Hannon wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Hannon darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Hannon stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Flash is breathing heavily.

and Flash moves into the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Hannon manages to pull guard.
Flash with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hannon manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Hannon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Flash wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Hannon.

Hannon controlling the pace for now.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Hannon avoids the attempt from Flash to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hannon can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Flash is looking to escape.
Hannon controlling from the full mount.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Derek Hannon wasn't doing enough on the ground.
No joy there for Hannon, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Derek Hannon dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Flash tries for a takedown but Hannon circles away easily

and Hannon counters with a single leg into guard. Flash didn't expect that.
Hannon slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Flash wants to get back to his feet but Hannon drags him back down.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Hannon has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Flash is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Hannon yanks on the arm and Flash is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Hannon.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Derek Hannon!
