Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Eli Zabitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gray Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis has chosen DMX - Aint No Sunshine as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Gray Davis!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis fails with the takedown.
Zabitz throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Davis fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Davis slips under a jab from Zabitz.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Davis drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Zabitz keeping moving, preventing Davis from controlling successfully.

Zabitz working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Davis.
Davis passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Davis trying to control the position but Zabitz is working away.

Davis tries for a kimura but Zabitz is defending well.

Davis advances nicely into full mount.

Davis working for a submission but Zabitz is keeping him at bay.

Davis wants to finish this one by submission but Zabitz is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Davis.

Davis seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Zabitz is holding on tight.
Zabitz has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Zabitz is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Davis gets his way!

Davis has good solid back control here.
Davis is looking to control Zabitz but Zabitz is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Davis is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Davis trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Gray Davis was stalling too much, according to the referee.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Davis is defended easily by Zabitz.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Zabitz buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Davis fails with a takedown attempt.

Zabitz moves in looking to clinch but Davis pushes him off.

Zabitz swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Davis counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Zabitz!
Davis avoids the attempt from Zabitz to control.

Zabitz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Davis on the ground.
Davis's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Davis wants to finish this one by submission but Zabitz is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Davis.
Zabitz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Davis wants to control the pace but Zabitz is squirming around nicely.

Davis is looking to control Zabitz but Zabitz is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Davis is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Zabitz is keeping busy.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Davis has good solid back control here.
Davis wants to control but Zabitz is keeping busy.
Zabitz covering up well and avoiding damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gray Davis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Davis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Zabitz pinned against the cage. Zabitz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Davis shoots for a takedown but Zabitz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Eli Zabitz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Eli Zabitz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gray Davis.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Davis is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Zabitz's half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davis has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Zabitz is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Davis has taken his back.
Will Davis go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Davis is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Zabitz. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Davis has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Davis has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Zabitz has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Davis just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Davis has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Zabitz! Can he survive? No! He's out! Davis gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
