Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Arthur Root (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saifullah Gaziev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saifullah Gaziev is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Saifullah Gaziev!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Gaziev with that takedown attempt.
Root closes the distance looking to clinch
and Gaziev counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Root tries to kick Gaziev off but Gaziev keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Arthur Root just wasn't active enough.

and Gaziev counters with a single leg into guard. Root didn't expect that.

Root parries the strikes from Gaziev easily there. Gaziev is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Root to escape.
Gaziev is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Root has escaped the position, nice work there.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gaziev is working Root over with some ground and pound from side control.
Gaziev throws an elbow but Root slips to the side and avoids it well.
Gaziev wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Root, who protects the arm well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gaziev drops back looking for a leg! Root is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Root manages to kick Gaziev off! Gaziev jumps back into Root's guard.
Gaziev thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Gaziev throws and elbow that misses. Root uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gaziev's guard. Nice move by Root!

Gaziev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Root's guard.

Gaziev drops back looking for a leg! Root is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Root manages to kick Gaziev off! Gaziev jumps back into Root's guard.

Saifullah Gaziev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
