Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between M J Shain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Maddox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shain comes to the cage accompanied by Thunderstruck. M J Shain could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Ken Maddox's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, M J Shain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 2, fighting out of New York, Ken Maddox!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Lou da Vinci and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Shain misses.
Shain moves out of range of the strikes.
Maddox moves forwards but Shain connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Maddox misses with a right hand
and Shain counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Shain swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Shain ducks under a wild hook from Maddox.
Shain throws a one two combo.
Maddox throws an off balance right hand
and Shain counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Shain throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Maddox gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Shain counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Maddox thinking.
Maddox takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Maddox swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Shain cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Shain fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Maddox manages to avoid it.
Shain looks to land a combination but Maddox avoids it well.
Maddox misses with a hook

and Shain counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Maddox looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shain is one step ahead there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Maddox is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Shain is controlling him.
Shain throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Shain slips nicely into half guard.
Shain looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Maddox with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Shain lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Maddox is not content to let Shain control the position.
Shain looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Maddox pushes Shain off and gets back to his feet.
Shain misses with a combination

and Maddox counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Shain utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Shain keeping moving, preventing Maddox from controlling successfully.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maddox moves out of range as Shain strikes.
Maddox throws a combination that misses
letting Shain counter with a right hand.
Maddox fails with the takedown

and Shain decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Maddox's guard.
Shain is looking to work some ground and pound but Maddox has wrist control.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Maddox holds on and takes a little breather.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Shain accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Maddox looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Shain puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Maddox moves into full guard.

Maddox looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shain is one step ahead there.
Shain working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Maddox's head.
Maddox wants to stand and escape but Shain is having none of it.
Maddox looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Maddox wants to stand but Shain is controlling the position.
Maddox has Shain pulled in close to control his posture.

Shain drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Maddox manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Shain has Maddox in his guard.

Maddox throws a strike but Shain rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Maddox has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Shain off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Maddox tries for a takedown but Shain circles away easily

and Shain counters with a single leg into guard. Maddox didn't expect that.
Shain landing some decent shots from guard.
Maddox looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Maddox lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Shain!

Maddox lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Shain in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Maddox cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Shain is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Shain's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Maddox shoots and misses
letting Shain counter with a right hand.
Shain works over Maddox's head and body with a nice combination.
Shain fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Ken Maddox is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Maddox ducks under a wild hook from Shain.
Shain takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Maddox throws out a loose jab but Shain uses good head movement to avoid it.

Shain leaves Maddox with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Shain connects with the punch.
Shain shoots in and drives through. Maddox sprawls well.
Maddox connects with a right hand. Shain shakes it off.
Maddox shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
M J Shain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ken Maddox.

Maddox closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Shain did well to prevent Maddox getting side control.
Shain is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Maddox's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Maddox's back!
Maddox controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Maddox's corner are yelling at him, telling him to just focus on controlling Shain's hands.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maddox is really stuck here.
M J Shain overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Maddox takes a big shot to the side of the head.
You can see the frustration on Maddox's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Shain thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Maddox takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Maddox is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Maddox rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Shain is thwarting Maddox's attempts to control the position.

Shain working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Shain not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Shain prevents Maddox from improving his position.
Maddox is pressing down on Shain's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Maddox tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Maddox is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Maddox can't keep his opponent in guard - Shain advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
M J Shain showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Shain has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
