Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fitzroy Mayers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Brunson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mayers comes to the cage accompanied by The People by STS. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Brunson!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayers takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Brunson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Mayers has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mayers lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Come on Brunson - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Mayers is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Brunson misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Brunson lands a body shot.
Good body shot from Mayers.
Brunson looks gassed!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mayers has Brunson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Mayers pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Brunson tumbling to the mat - Mayers dives into Brunson's guard.
Mayers missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Brunson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brunson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Mayers trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Mayers throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Mayers postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Mayers trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Mayers working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Brunson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mayers throwing strikes but missing.
Mayers pushes down on Brunson's leg and manages to get into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mayers working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Mayers not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Mayers throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Brunson has hold of Mayers's hands but Mayers slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Mayers is nestled in close to Brunson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Mayers winds up and cracks Brunson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Mayers landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Brunson is looking to control Mayers's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Brunson avoid being mounted?
Brunson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mayers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mayers takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brunson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Mayers scores with a couple of nice shots.
Brunson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Mayers throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Mayers throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Brunson blocking the ground and pound attempt from Mayers.
Mayers is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Brunson!
Mayers lands a nice shot to the head.
Mayers fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Brunson in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Mayers trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Mayers looking to control and managing it successfully.

Mayers cracks Brunson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Mayers landing strikes, looking to finish!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mayers in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.


Brunson is rocked!
Brunson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Brunson is still in real trouble! Can Mayers finish him?
Mayers postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Brunson is out cold - huge knockout for Mayers!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Fitzroy Mayers!
