Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dupree Owens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Zarch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Dupree Owens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Zarch! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Owens scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Owens misses with a looping right. Zarch fails with the takedown and Owens counters with a one-two to the body. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Owens throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Owens scores with a nice head shot. Zarch doesn't succeed with the takedown and Owens counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zarch misses with a takedown attempt and Owens counters with a nice double leg into guard. Dupree Owens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Zarch. Zarch is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Zarch has momentary wrist control but Owens slips an elbow through the middle. Owens is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Owens winds up and cracks Zarch with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Owens is nestled in close to Zarch, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Owens slows the pace down in half guard. Zarch blocking the ground and pound attempt from Owens. No, Owens escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Owens! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Zarch manages to work his way to half guard, despite Owens's best efforts. Owens thows a huge punch but Zarch dodges it nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Zarch tries to buck Owens off but he can't manage it. Owens has control of Zarch's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Zarch regains control of the situation pretty easily.

He has the arm isolated but Zarch is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Owens is looking to take a break and control but Zarch is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Zarch looking for a sweep but Owens has passed into full mount! Oh no! Owens has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Owens looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Owens is in the full mount, landing strikes. Zarch is squirming around, avoiding Owens's attempts to control the action. Owens breaks from Zarch's wrist control and lands an elbow. Zarch is desperately trying to improve his position but Owens has a good base and remains in mount. Owens lands a big elbow. Zarch is wriggling around trying to escape.

Zarch is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Owens can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Zarch is looking to escape. Dupree Owens overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Owens has control of Zarch's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Zarch regains control of the situation pretty easily.
