Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Phil Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes into the arena with Rampage Song blaring out of the sound system. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Phil Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Carter! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carter misses with a double jab
and Jackson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Jackson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Carter on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Carter manages to get to full guard.
Carter wants to sweep here but Jackson controlling him for the moment. Jackson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Carter is keeping the position for now. Carter lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jackson! Jackson wants to get back to his feet.
Jackson trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter controlling from mount. Let's hope that Carter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Jackson in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Carter looking to control and managing it successfully. Jackson wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carter tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Jackson tries to buck Carter off but he can't manage it. Jackson is trying to escape the mount.
Carter controlling the position easily from mount. Jackson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jackson tries to get out of the position. Jackson wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter controlling from mount. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Jackson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Jackson tries to hold on but Carter pushes him away. Jackson can't escape the position.

Carl Carter has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Carter misses with a hook
and Jackson counters with a lovely straight right hand! Jackson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Carter looks gassed! Jackson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Jackson prevents Carter from getting the reversal. Carter is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Jackson controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Phil Jackson will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

Carter is keen to just control but Jackson is a slippery customer. Carter is breathing heavily. Jackson is trying to stand back up but Carter is controlling him
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Jackson is staying active underneath Carter, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Carl Carter. Nice shot lands for Carter. Jackson misses with a few strikes there.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Jackson throws a nice looking combination but Carter bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Jackson throws a right and a left that both miss. Carl Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jackson falls off balance throwing a combination
and Jackson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Jackson throws out a powerful jab. Jackson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Carter keeps the fight on the outside. Jackson shoots for a double leg takedown but Carter sprawls well. He's pushed Jackson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Carter dodges the punch combination from Jackson.

Jackson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Jackson duly obliges. Carter avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Jackson throws a series of strikes that have Carter backpedaling.
Phil Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Jackson has closed the distance and engaged Carter in a clinch.
Jackson tightens his grip and picks Carter up, before dumping him to the ground. Carter manages to land in guard. Jackson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Jackson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Carter is proving hard to escape from. Carter controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself. Jackson scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Jackson throwing strikes but missing. Carter looking for a guillotine here but Jackson defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Phil Jackson dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

and Jackson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Carter misses with a two punch combination.
Carter tries for a takedown but Jackson circles away easily and Jackson counters with a two punch combo. Jackson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Carter moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Carter is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Jackson. Jackson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Jackson throws a right and a left that Carter avoids nicely. Jackson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jackson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Carter quickly recovers to half guard. Jackson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Jackson is trying to work for a kimura but Carter is defending well.
Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carter on the ground. Jackson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Carter does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jackson connects with a nice short shot to Carter's temple. Jackson lands with a punch from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jackson wants to free his trapped foot but Carter is holding on for dear life with his legs. Jackson scoring with strikes to the body and head. Jackson working over Carter with some ground and pound. Carter looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Jackson drops an elbow to the side of Carter's head. Jackson is taking a breather. Carter says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jackson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Carter actively working from the bottom here. Jackson slows the pace down in half guard. Jackson trying to control from half guard but Carter is working away.
And that's the end of the fight! Phil Jackson showed his dominance in that final round. Well Jackson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
