The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Desantis shoots and misses

and Carter counters with a shoot takedown. Desantis fights it but they end up in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Desantis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Desantis is trying to control. Carter wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Desantis moves nicely into side control.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Desantis works to advance to full mount. Carter defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Desantis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Carter enables Desantis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Carter manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Desantis sneaks out the side door and pushes Carter away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Rick Carter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Desantis fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Carter to the ground. Desantis is now in Carter's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's time! Carter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Desantis doesn't succeed with the takedown

Carter got a little sloppy there for a moment and Desantis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carter has managed to get both his arms back between Desantis's legs - danger averted.
