Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steven Kabal!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hagel throws a body kick the misses
and Kabal counters with a nice uppercut.
Hagel misses with a wild body shot.
A head kick by Hagel misses

and Kabal counters with a big uppercut that knocks Hagel off his feet! Kabal dives into side control looking to finish!


Hagel is rocked!
Hagel tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Oh Hagel is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hagel seems to have got his legs back now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hagel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Hagel had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kabal defends it easily.

Kabal wants to get up but he can't break Hagel's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Hagel misses with a takedown attempt - Kabal sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Hagel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hagel throws and elbow that misses. Kabal uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hagel's guard. Nice move by Kabal!

Kabal tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hagel swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Matt Hagel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That was a close second round but I would say that Matt Hagel will probably get the nod.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Hagel slips a nice elbow through Kabal's hands, connecting with Kabal's forehead.
Kabal is trying to stand up here but Hagel is controlling him well.
Hagel is looking to take a break and control but Kabal is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hagel is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Hagel lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
