Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vlad Stolbov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mauricio Rua is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Rua! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stolbov fails in his attempt to clinch. Stolbov looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Rua is controlling Stolbov's posture. Stolbov lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Stolbov throwing strikes from guard but Rua blocks nicely. Rua trying to control the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rua is on top in guard.
Rua drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rua jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Rua is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stolbov lands a decent punch to the body there. Stolbov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Stolbov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Stolbov had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rua defends it easily. The fighters roll with the hold and Stolbov manages to kick Rua off! Rua jumps back into Stolbov's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stolbov working a defensive guard but Rua passes into half guard.

Stolbov wants to improve his position but Rua is controlling well.
Rua is looking for a kimura but Stolbov is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rua to get the leverage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rua is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Rua tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Stolbov. Stolbov is looking to get back to full guard here but Rua has managed to pass to side control instead. Rua stands up and beckons Stolbov to his feet. Stolbov is breathing heavily. Stolbov doesn't succeed with the takedown and Rua counters with a nice uppercut. Rua changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stolbov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Rua has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Stolbov is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Rua yanks on the arm and Stolbov is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Rua.
