Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ariel Piechocki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luis Carboza! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A solid leg kick lands there for Carboza.
Carboza looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Piechocki looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Piechocki closes the distance and clinches. Piechocki has picked Carboza up - he's going for a ride! Piechocki dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Piechocki lands strikes from half guard. Piechocki landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Piechocki is nestled in close to Carboza, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Well, if Piechocki is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Piechocki seems to be working for a kimura but Carboza defends the submission attempt. Carboza on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Piechocki performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Carboza has hold of Piechocki's hands but Piechocki slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Piechocki lands a nice short elbow. Piechocki is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Piechocki slips a nice elbow through Carboza's hands, connecting with Carboza's forehead. Piechocki keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Piechocki looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carboza with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Piechocki lands strikes from half guard. Piechocki working over Carboza with some ground and pound. Carboza looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Piechocki works his way into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Piechocki wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Carboza, who protects the arm well. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Piechocki takes a little break here. Carboza wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Piechocki thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Carboza taking a bit of punishment here - Piechocki scoring with strikes. Carboza is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Piechocki has just dragged him back down to the mat. Piechocki in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Piechocki is putting a hurting on Carboza here, landing some big shots from side control. Piechocki in side control, just content to control the action for now. Piechocki happy to just control the position for now. Piechocki looks up at the clock and then as Carboza takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Piechocki smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Piechocki shoots in and bounces Carboza off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Piechocki cracks Carboza with a solid left hand. Piechocki is standing up over Carboza. Carboza looks to escape but Piechocki dives into side control.

Ariel Piechocki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Piechocki content just to control the position here. Piechocki lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Piechocki landing strikes, looking to finish! Piechocki jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Carboza manages to avoid the submission attempt. Piechocki controlling the position. Piechocki has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Carboza is letting Piechocki control him for a moment. Piechocki is working Carboza over with some ground and pound from side control. Carboza is pushing Piechocki's head away, looking to escape.
