PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Marchetti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Marchetti might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Slipknot - Only One. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Marchetti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brock Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marchetti swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Marchetti takes a swing at Lesnar's ribcage but misses.
Marchetti misses with a double jab.
Marchetti throws a head kick that misses.

Lesnar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Lesnar cracks Marchetti with a big elbow.
Lesnar wants to control for a moment but Marchetti uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Lesnar tries to get to full guard but Marchetti has control of the leg.
Lesnar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marchetti. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lesnar is looking to improve his position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lesnar trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

Marchetti is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Lesnar is defending well though. Marchetti let's go of the attempt for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Marchetti has the hooks in. Lesnar is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Lesnar is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Lesnar rolls, trying to escape but Marchetti keeps control of the position.

Lesnar turns into Marchetti and is now in his guard.

Lesnar is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Lesnar lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Lesnar passes Marchetti's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Marchetti makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Marchetti.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Brock Lesnar dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Marchetti gets caught flat footed, as Lesnar shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Marchetti is on top in guard.
Lesnar manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Marchetti bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Marchetti loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Lesnar pulls Marchetti in close to his closed guard and prevents Marchetti from doing any damage or advancing position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Marchetti tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Lesnar.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Marchetti throws a head kick that misses.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lesnar feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lesnar is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Lesnar is pushing down on Marchetti's leg trying to pass to half guard. Marchetti is fighting to maintain full guard but Lesnar has managed to sneak the leg through.

Lesnar is keen to just control but Marchetti is a slippery customer.

Brock Lesnar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Lesnar drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Marchetti working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lesnar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lesnar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Marchetti feints and then cracks Lesnar's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Lesnar down.

Lesnar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

I've got Lesnar winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
