Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mickey O Neil! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, juan sanchez! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! O Neil throws a nice inside leg kick. No luck for sanchez with that takedown attempt. O Neil looks to land a combination but sanchez avoids it well. A punch combination from O Neil misses. O Neil clinches up with sanchez and pushes him back against the cage. sanchez is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. A nice right hand lands inside from O Neil. sanchez fails to pull guard.
Mickey O Neil has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of juan sanchez. sanchez tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. O Neil smiles and moves away.
sanchez fails with a takedown attempt from distance. sanchez showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from O Neil.
O Neil misses with a wild combination.
sanchez dodges the punch combination from O Neil.
A right-left combo lands from O Neil.
It looks like juan sanchez has been cut. Mickey O Neil seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. sanchez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. sanchez is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for O Neil!
That's one minute gone in the round. sanchez jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… O Neil is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by O Neil and sanchez has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
sanchez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. sanchez looks gassed! O Neil tries to buck sanchez off but sanchez is having none of it. O Neil wants to control but sanchez postures up. O Neil stops sanchez from passing to mount. sanchez tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. sanchez tries for a kimura but O Neil is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. O Neil struggling a bit here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. sanchez tries for a kimura but O Neil is defending well. sanchez has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for O Neil! O Neil knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for sanchez on the ground. sanchez with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
O Neil has given up his back. Will we see sanchez going for some submissions?
That's three minutes gone in the round. sanchez is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged O Neil with him. O Neil is trying to defend but sanchez has an arm under the chin now! O Neil grimaces and is forced to tap out!
