Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Slade Mortis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heath Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mortis's entrance music is Show me how to live. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Slade Mortis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Heath Hill!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mortis fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mortis looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Hill lands with an uppercut that bounces Mortis off the cage and back into rage.

Mortis gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Hill stands up and waves to Mortis to follow him.

Hill shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Hill trying to control but Mortis is having none of it.
Hill controlling the position easily from mount.
Let's hope that Hill has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mortis is desperately trying to improve his position but Hill has a good base and remains in mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hill trying to control but Mortis is having none of it.
Hill is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Despite being in the dominant position, Heath Hill just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hill lands a jab to the head.
Mortis moves out of range as Hill throws a body kick.
Hill moves away from the strike by Mortis.
Hill circles away from the clinch attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mortis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mortis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hill swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mortis closes the distance and clinches.
Hill wants to break free but Mortis has control.
Hill is trying to break the clinch but Mortis has him pressed against the cage.

Mortis has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Hill regains guard immediately.
Mortis wants to stand but Hill is controlling his posture from full guard.
Mortis takes a decent strike to the side of the head.
Mortis trying to control but Hill is working from the bottom.
Mortis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hill wants to stand and escape but Mortis is having none of it.
Mortis wants to control from the top but Hill keeps moving.
Hill is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Mortis walks into a left hand.
Heath Hill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hill throws a combination. Mortis tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Some wild striking there from Hill.
Mortis fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hill looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Hill bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Mortis's head.


Mortis is rocked!

Hill shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hill showed some decent athleticism there.
Oh Mortis is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hill really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mortis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hill trying to control the pace.
Hill looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mortis with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Mortis seems to have got his legs back now.
Hill trying to control from half guard but Mortis is working away.

Hill wants to stand but Mortis has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Mortis is trying to get back to full guard.
Hill tries to stand but can't do so whilst Mortis controls his leg.

Mortis is defending against the submission attempts here by Hill.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hill works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mortis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Hill counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mortis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Heath Hill dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Hill darts in and clinches Mortis up against the cage.
Mortis fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Mortis tries to break the clinch but Hill is controlling the position.
Hill is trying to break the clinch but Mortis has him pressed against the cage.
Mortis wants to get back to striking at distance but Hill won't allow it.
Mortis tries to pull guard but Hill won't allow it.
Hill wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Hill has Mortis pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mortis manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Hill letting Mortis take a breather here.
Mortis prevents Hill from breaking the clinch.
Hill has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Hill wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Hill lands with a left to the head.
Hill has had enough of the clinch but Mortis keeps him there for the moment.
Mortis drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Slade Mortis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hill breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hill stalks Mortis and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mortis's face. Mortis staggers backwards, shaken.
Mortis shoots in for a takedown but Hill shows good takedown defense.

Mortis gets caught flat footed, as Hill shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Mortis is trying to control the position but Hill postures up.

Mortis manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Hill working to try and regain half guard.

Mortis has control of Hill's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hill regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Mortis punching from mount but Hill doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Mortis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hill is looking to escape.

Hill is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Mortis working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Hill holds on to Mortis around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.
Hill is trying to escape the mount.
Hill is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Mortis trying to control but Hill is having none of it.

You get the feeling that Hill really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Hill rolls, trying to escape but Mortis keeps control of the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mortis wants to control but Hill is keeping busy.
Mortis throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.

Hill is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Mortis lands a shot to the head.
Hill trying to get back to his feet but Mortis is in full control for now.
Hill wants to escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Heath Hill showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Mortis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Hill feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hill shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mortis pinned against the cage. Mortis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hill fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Mortis keeps control of Hill as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Hill can't break the clinch.
Mortis wants to stall.
Mortis prevents Hill from breaking the clinch.
Hill wants to get back to striking at distance but Mortis won't allow it.

Mortis misses the jab.

Mortis gets caught flat footed, as Hill shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hill postures up and lands a big shot to Mortis's brow.
Mortis is trying to keep Hill in close.
Hill wants to stand but Mortis has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Mortis is looking to stand up but Hill isn't so interested in that idea.

Hill stops Mortis from standing up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hill can do anything to dispel that myth.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mortis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hill throws a nice looking combination but Mortis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Mortis doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Hill counters with a straight right hand.
Hill looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mortis is fending him off so far but Hill persists. Nope, Mortis circles away and we're back to standing.
Slade Mortis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Heath Hill.

Hill has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Mortis has passed into side control.
Hill pushes Mortis away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mortis gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Hill is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

I would just about give that final round to Heath Hill.
Well Hill has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
