Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between King Leonidas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, King Leonidas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Woods!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Dean Styles and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woods misses with a shot to the body
and Leonidas counters with a stiff right hand.
Leonidas looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Woods throws out a loose jab but Leonidas uses good head movement to avoid it.
Leonidas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Woods.
Woods misses with an uppercut. Leonidas saw that one coming.
Leonidas is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Woods throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Leonidas shoots in but no luck this time.
Leonidas misses with a takedown
and Leonidas takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Woods is looking to clinch.
Woods throws a combination that misses
and Leonidas counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Woods gets the takedown into side control.

Leonidas struggling a bit here.

Leonidas tries to buck Woods off but Woods is having none of it.
Leonidas can't do much from the bottom here.
Woods in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Woods throwing strikes but Leonidas manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Woods is trying to improve his position.

Leonidas goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Woods rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Leonidas's guard! Nice work there by Woods!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Leonidas had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Woods defends it easily.
Woods throwing strikes but missing.
Leonidas keeping full guard, as Woods tries to pass.

Woods got a little sloppy there for a moment and Leonidas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Woods has managed to get both his arms back between Leonidas's legs - danger averted.
Woods is looking to work some ground and pound but Leonidas has wrist control.

Leonidas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Woods trying to control but Leonidas is working from the bottom.
Woods is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. James Woods wasn't active enough on the ground.
Woods throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Leonidas.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for King Leonidas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Woods takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Leonidas gets caught flat footed, as Woods shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Woods sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Leonidas's guard.
Leonidas looks like he's trying to stand up.
Nice strikes from Woods there.
Woods is keen to just control but Leonidas is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Woods dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Leonidas throws a right and a left that Woods avoids nicely.
Woods throws a jab but it's blocked by Leonidas.
Leonidas throws a hook to the side of Woods's head but Woods sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Leonidas misses with a two punch combination.
Leonidas throws a right hand that Woods ducks under and follows up with a left that Woods also avoids with ease.
Woods misses with a shot to the body
and Leonidas counters with a lovely straight right hand!
James Woods seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Leonidas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Woods circles away quickly and effectively.
Woods misses with an uppercut
and Leonidas connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Woods swings widly with a right hand
and Leonidas counters with a stiff right hand.
Woods fails with the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Woods closes this distance looking for a takedown but Leonidas circles away.
Woods misses with a left hand
and Leonidas counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
No luck for Leonidas with that takedown attempt.

Woods throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Leonidas connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Woods misses with a double jab.
Woods fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Leonidas looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Leonidas misses with a low kick as Woods jumps back.
Leonidas throws a right and a left that both miss.
Leonidas dives in and grabs Woods's left leg, looking for a takedown. Woods pushes down on Leonidas's head and hops out.
Leonidas looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for King Leonidas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Leonidas misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Woods looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Leonidas moves away from the strike by Woods.
King Leonidas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Woods misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Woods throws an off balance right hand
and Leonidas counters with a three punch combo that has Woods backing up. Woods nods at Leonidas to acknowledge the strikes.
Woods swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Leonidas misses with a leg kick

and Woods moves into the clinch.

Woods has picked Leonidas up - he's going for a ride! Woods dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Leonidas on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Woods lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Leonidas keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Leonidas is trying to control but can't.
Woods is nestled in close to Leonidas, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Leonidas gets back to full guard.
Woods trying to control but Leonidas is working from the bottom.
Leonidas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Woods is one step ahead there.

Woods makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Woods is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Woods wants to control from the top but Leonidas keeps moving.
Woods tries to free his leg and advance position but Leonidas is retaining full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Woods trying to control the position from guard on top but Leonidas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Woods looking to sit in guard and control but Leonidas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

James Woods showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Woods has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Leonidas off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

and Woods counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Woods throws a lazy uppercut

and Leonidas counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Woods!
Woods is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Leonidas goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Woods is on top in guard.
Woods with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Woods passes into half guard.
Woods trying to pass the guard but Leonidas defending well.

Woods is looking to take a break and control but Leonidas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Woods cracks Leonidas with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

King Leonidas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

James Woods comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Woods winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
