Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Kidd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Kazama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kidd comes to the cage accompanied by Blowin Swishers. Lee Kazama told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tony Kidd! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lee Kazama! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Taro Takaoka and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kidd dives in and grabs Kazama's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kazama pushes down on Kidd's head and hops out. Kidd doesn't succeed with the takedown and Kazama counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kazama postures up.
Kazama preventing the sweep. Kidd is controlling Kazama's posture. Kazama must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Kidd trying to keep a closed guard but Kazama is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Kazama with a nice head shot there. Kidd is trying to keep Kazama in close.
Kazama won't allow Kidd to sweep him here. Kidd is working hard here to advance position. Kidd controls Kazama momentarily but Kazama frees himself.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Tony Kidd just wasn't active enough. Kidd throws a right hand that Kazama ducks under and follows up with a left that Kazama also avoids with ease.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kazama dives in and scores a takedown into Kidd's guard. Kazama avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kidd manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kazama manages to get himself to full guard.
Kidd trying to control but Kazama is working from the bottom. Kidd loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Kidd wants to pass the guard but Kazama is keeping the position. Kidd throws and elbow that misses. Kazama uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kidd's guard. Nice move by Kazama! Kidd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kidd is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Tony Kidd has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Kidd with a poor takedown and Kazama counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kazama. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Kidd. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kidd turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kidd manages to end up in side control. Kidd prevents Kazama from escaping the position. Kazama is not content to let Kidd control the position. Kazama tries to improve position but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Check out the look on Kidd's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Kazama is squirming around, avoiding Kidd's attempts to control the action. Kidd jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Kazama manages to avoid the submission attempt. Kidd is working to tighten is grip on Kazama's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Kazama has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Kidd is really squeezing tight and eventually Kazama passes out! Kidd breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
