Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gage Curry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shawn Michaels!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Michaels. Curry shrugs it off though.
Michaels has Curry up against the cage in a clinch.
Michaels lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Michaels lands a left hand that snaps the head of Curry backwards.
Michaels softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Curry tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Michaels just stands there and leans against the cage.
Michaels breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Curry misses with a right hand
and Michaels counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Curry thinking.
Curry stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Michaels.
Curry is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A solid leg kick lands there for Michaels.
Michaels feints and then cracks Curry's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Curry down.
Michaels closes the distance and pushes Curry back into the cage.
Curry's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Michaels scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Curry is rocked!
A right hand to the body from Michaels.
Oh Curry is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The referee calls for Michaels to work.
Curry seems to have got his legs back now.
Michaels pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Curry steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Michaels. That one must have hurt.
Michaels lands a big right hook! Curry looks hurt but is still standing! Michaels lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Curry falls down and Michaels dives in with a huge hammer fist! Curry's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Michaels runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Shawn Michaels!
