PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergey Verhnevolsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrei Arlovskii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Verhnevolsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrei Arlovskii!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Verhnevolsky throws a head kick that misses
and Arlovskii counters with a nice uppercut.

and Arlovskii counters with a stiff right hand.

and Arlovskii cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Verhnevolsky has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Arlovskii is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Verhnevolsky.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Arlovskii looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Verhnevolsky!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well Arlovskii has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
