Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris McPheters!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McPheters gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Davis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. McPheters just stands there and leans against the cage.
McPheters wants a takedown but no success here.
Davis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McPheters walks away with a smile on his face. Davis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Good exchange - Davis coming out on top.
McPheters pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McPheters slips a jab and a cross from Davis.
McPheters shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Marcus Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris McPheters.

McPheters drops his hands momentarily and Davis takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
McPheters fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
McPheters throws a body punch but Davis moves out of range.
Davis throws a right hand that McPheters ducks under and follows up with a left that McPheters also avoids with ease.

Davis connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Davis misses with a series of wild punches.
Davis scores with a shot to the body.
Davis tries to bum rush McPheters with a series of wild strikes but McPheters uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Davis feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits McPheterss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Davis throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McPheters stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and McPheters counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
McPheters wants to control but Davis is keeping him busy.
Davis is trying to stand up here but McPheters is controlling him well.
Davis trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
McPheters is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McPheters lands a nice short elbow.
Davis on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
McPheters is trying to control. Davis wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Davis pushes McPheters off and gets back to his feet.

McPheters drives through with a takedown into Davis's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

McPheters looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Davis with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McPheters connects with a nice short shot to Davis's temple.

Chris McPheters showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Davis lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Davis throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

McPheters closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

McPheters can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Davis is looking to escape.

McPheters takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Davis wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by McPheters.

Poor strikes thrown by McPheters there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McPheters looking to ground and pound but Davis is blocking nicely.
Davis's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Davis is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
McPheters content just to control the position here.

McPheters lands a big shot there that rocks Davis but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Davis takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
McPheters fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McPheters postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Davis looks a forlorn figure.
