Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ghost Navigator! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Renzo Rua! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Eddie Farnsworth and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rua decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rua tries to pass to full mount but Navigator defends it. Rua is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Navigator sees it coming and defends easily. Navigator knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rua on the ground. Rua is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Rua stops Navigator from getting back to his feet.
Rua is trying for a kimura here. Navigator looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Rua wins by kimura!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Renzo Rua!
