Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Hughers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Marsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Randy Marsh will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matthew Hughers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Randy Marsh!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marsh throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hughers shoots and misses
and Marsh counters with a one-two to the body.
Marsh misses with a few strikes there.
Marsh throws a hook to the side of Hughers's head but Hughers sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Hughers tries for a takedown but Marsh circles away easily
and Marsh counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Hughers walks into a left hand.
Hughers shoots and misses
and Marsh counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hughers thinking.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matthew Hughers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Marsh misses with the combination.
Marsh looks to land a left hand but Hughers moved out of range nicely.

Marsh paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

letting Marsh counter with a right hand.
Marsh scores with a nice right hand.
Marsh will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Marsh lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Marsh.

Hughers bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Marsh throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Marsh throws the left hand but Hughers avoids the punch easily.
A jab from Marsh finds it's way through Hughers's defenses.

Marsh catches Hughers with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Marsh cracks Hughers with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
The fighters circle momentarily. Marsh darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Hughers defending well as Marsh loads up on a big left hand.
Marsh lands an overhand right.
Hughers looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Hughers slips a jab and a cross from Marsh.
Hughers swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Marsh counters with a straight right hand.
Marsh fails to land with a series of punches.
Hughers misses with a body shot.
No joy there for Marsh, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Hughers doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Marsh counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hughers misses with an uppercut
and Marsh connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Marsh misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The fighters circling - Marsh throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Marsh gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hughers to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Marsh is trying to keep Hughers in close.

Marsh looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hughers is one step ahead there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Marsh can do anything to dispel that myth.
Marsh is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Hughers has gone for a leg lock! Marsh slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hughers's guard.
Marsh prevents Hughers from getting back to his feet.

Hughers looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Marsh stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Hughers throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Marsh counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Marsh throws a shot to the body.
Hughers tries to clinch up but Marsh circles away and keeps his distance.
Marsh lands with a good body shot.
Marsh feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hugherss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and Marsh cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Marsh throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hughers stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Marsh makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Randy Marsh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Marsh enables Hughers to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Marsh manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marsh wants to control but Hughers is keeping busy.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Marsh wants to control but Hughers passes into side.

Marsh is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Hughers is looking to take a break and control but Marsh is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Marsh parries the strikes from Hughers easily there. Hughers is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Marsh to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hughers tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hughers has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Randy Marsh is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Hughers is looking to take a break and control but Marsh is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Marsh manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Marsh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hughers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hughers is looking to escape.

Marsh stands up and beckons Hughers to join him on the feet.

I've got Marsh winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
