Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Grant Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melvin Michaels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gordon comes to the cage accompanied by Last resort. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Grant Gordon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Melvin Michaels!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gordon has managed to clinch.
Michaels misses with a body punch.

Gordon is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Michaels can't fight it off and eventually Gordon manages to take the fight to the floor. Michaels looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Gordon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Michaels swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Michaels wants to stand but Gordon is controlling the position.

Gordon drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gordon jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gordon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Michaels swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gordon wants to control from the top but Michaels keeps moving.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Michaels is looking to stand up but Gordon isn't so interested in that idea.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Gordon trying to control the position from guard on top but Michaels is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gordon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Grant Gordon just wasn't active enough.
Gordon lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Michaels shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gordon is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Michaels is controlling him.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Michaels in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Gordon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Gordon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Michaels can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

and Gordon counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Melvin Michaels seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Gordon finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Michaels has hold of one of Gordon's legs. Gordon is fighting the takedown attempt but Michaels gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Gordon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Michaels can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Gordon wants to sweep but no luck.

Gordon throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Michaels manages to pass to side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gordon is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gordon tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Michaels prevents Gordon from escaping the position.

Michaels has control of an arm but Gordon manages to advance to Michaels's back!
Michaels controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Gordon has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Michaels holding both Gordon 's hands and preventing any damage.
Gordon is looking to control Michaels but Michaels is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Michaels really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gordon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Michaels manages to stand up with Gordon still on his back. Eventually Gordon drops to his feet and we're back in the standing position.
Michaels misses with a takedown

and Gordon holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Gordon jumps into guard, dragging Michaels to the mat.

Gordon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Michaels doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Michaels manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Gordon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Michaels manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Gordon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Michaels's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Michaels can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gordon wants the takedown. Michaels is fighting it off but Gordon persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Michaels's guard against the cage.

Gordon stands up and waves to Michaels to follow him.

Michaels gets caught napping as Gordon dives in and scores a takedown. Michaels manages to retain guard.
Grant Gordon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gordon postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Michaels is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gordon, into his guard.

Gordon is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Gordon is refusing to be controlled, as Michaels sits in half guard.
Gordon gets back to full guard.

Gordon is looking for a triangle but Michaels pushes his legs off easily.
Melvin Michaels has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Grant Gordon is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Grant Gordon showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Gordon has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
