The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Michaels will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Michaels drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Michaels tries to free his leg and advance position but McGriff is retaining full guard.
McGriff really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Michaels. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McGriff wants to get back to his feet but Michaels is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Michaels drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Michaels jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Michaels is looking to advance position but McGriff won't allow it.

Michaels wants to free his trapped foot but McGriff is holding on for dear life with his legs.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McGriff can do anything to dispel that myth.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Michaels is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. McGriff can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
McGriff is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Michaels has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Michaels working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but McGriff is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Michaels has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! McGriff taps out!
