PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between German Shepard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Speed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Speed has chosen Tough as Steel by Wolfsbane as his entrance music. Scott Speed will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shepard doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Speed counters with a series of strikes. Shepard will be more careful next time no doubt.
Shepard gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Speed counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Shepard pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Shepard shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Speed napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Shepard tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shepard has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Speed tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Shepard presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Shepard jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Speed is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Speed and Shepard has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
