Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Victor Dickens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Homer Ball! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ball fails in his attempt to clinch. Victor Dickens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ball gets the takedown into side control. Dickens parries the strikes from Ball easily there. Ball is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Dickens to escape.
Ball wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dickens keeps working. Dickens can't do much from the bottom here. Dickens is looking for a sweep. Ball wants to stand but Dickens has his arm trapped. Dickens keeps Ball under control for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ball is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dickens has escaped the position, nice work there. An elbow from Ball crashes against the mat.
Dickens wants to control but Ball postures up. Dickens is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ball is controlling him well. You can see the frustration on Dickens's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Dickens is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ball off and has taken his back! Dickens is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Ball looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Ball trying to control the action but Dickens just sinks the hooks in.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ball tries to escape but Dickens has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Dickens misses with a punch to the head. Ball avoids the strikes from Dickens. Ball controlling his opponent's hands, preventing the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Ball rolls, trying to escape but Dickens keeps control of the position.
Ball breaks Dickens's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Ball wants to control from the top but Dickens keeps moving. Ball with a flurry of punches that miss. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ball is looking to work some ground and pound but Dickens has wrist control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Homer Ball dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Ball looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Dickens! Ball prevents Dickens from getting the reversal. Ball controlling from mount. Dickens manages to work a leg through to get back to half guard here. Good work there by Dickens, under a barage of strikes from Ball.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ball not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Ball wants to free his trapped foot but Dickens is holding on for dear life with his legs. Ball is trying to control the action in half guard but Dickens is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Ball might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Dickens kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Homer Ball. Dickens shoots and misses and Ball counters by moving into the clinch. Ball turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Ball manages to end up in side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ball tries to get to his feet but Dickens is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Ball in his guard. Dickens working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Ball.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dickens wants to get back to his feet but Ball is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Ball trying to control the position from guard on top but Dickens is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Dickens wants to sweep but no luck. Dickens trying to control the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Homer Ball hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Dickens fails with a takedown attempt. Ball tries a head kick but it misses.

It looks like Homer Ball has been cut. Dickens fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Victor Dickens. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ball bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Ball stands up and we're back to a striking position. Dickens has his takedown stuffed and Ball counters with a takedown into side control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dickens is looking for a sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ball wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dickens keeps working. Ball tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Ball is looking to take a break and control but Dickens is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Dickens wants to control but Ball postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Homer Ball showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Homer Ball's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Ball feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Ball wants to control from the top but Dickens keeps moving. Ball controls from within his opponent's guard. Ball pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dickens is keeping the position for now. Ball stopping the sweep attempt from Dickens. Dickens is pulling down on Ball's head to control his posture.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Homer Ball was stalling too much, according to the referee. Dickens shoots for a takedown but Ball saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Dickens shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Victor Dickens is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Dickens shoots in for a double leg but Ball sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Victor Dickens. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dickens fails to land the takedown. Dickens shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ball as he jumps to the side. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Ball shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ball was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Ball controlling from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ball is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Dickens can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Ball tries to control but Dickens wriggling away. Ball tries to stand up but Dickens had a hold of his arm and he's managed to perform a nice reversal, into half guard. Ball trying to control but Dickens postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Homer Ball hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Dickens shoots in for a takedown but Ball shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Ball drives through with a takedown into Dickens's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Homer Ball has got the better of the ground game so far. Ball throws a strike but Dickens rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Dickens won't allow Ball to sweep him here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dickens controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Dickens stopping the sweep attempt from Ball. Ball has his hands on Dickens's head, controlling the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Homer Ball comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Ball winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
