Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kirk Dillard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Fontana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fontana has chosen Queensryche - Silent Lucidity as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kirk Dillard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Fontana!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dillard gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Dillard jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Fontana walks away with a smile on his face. Dillard gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Dillard moves into the clinch.
Dillard tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Fontana smiles and moves away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Dillard manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Fontana wants to get up but he can't break Dillard's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Dillard not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Fontana stays in close to Dillard's body and controls the position.
Fontana trying to control the position from guard on top but Dillard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Steve Fontana wasn't active enough on the ground.
Dillard slips a jab and a cross from Fontana.

Fontana clinches up with Dillard and pushes him back against the cage.
Dillard has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Fontana avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Dillard decides to pull guard.
Dillard is pulling down on Fontana's head to control his posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fontana has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dillard is proving hard to escape from.

Dillard gets tackled into the cage by Fontana. Fontana maintains the clinch.
Fontana throws a head punch that misses.
Dillard jumps guard but Fontana stands there with Dillard around his waist. Dillard gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Dillard blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Dillard fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Dillard has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Fontana is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

and Fontana holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Fontana's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Dillard clinches up with Fontana and pushes him back against the cage.

Fontana breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dillard steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Fontana.
Fontana scores with the left hand. Dillard knows he should have avoided that one.
Dillard dodges the punch combination from Fontana.
Dillard fails with the takedown

and Fontana holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Fontana breaks from the clinch.

Fontana forces Dillard back against the cage and clinches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Fontana dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Fontana gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Dillard decides to pull guard.
Fontana preventing the sweep.
Fontana really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dillard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fontana slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Fontana is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Dillard tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dillard controls Fontana momentarily but Fontana frees himself.
Dillard lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Fontana!
Fontana is squirming around, avoiding Dillard's attempts to control the action.

Fontana is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Kirk Dillard wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Fontana throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Dillard takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Dillard swings for the body but Fontana moves out of range.

Fontana instigates a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fontana tries to break the clinch but Dillard is controlling the position.
Fontana gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Dillard.

Fontana escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Fontana rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Dillard counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fontana's guard now.

Dillard drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Fontana manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dillard has Fontana in his guard.

Fontana gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

and Dillard decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Fontana's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dillard wants to control from the top but Fontana keeps moving.

Dillard thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dillard is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fontana pulls Dillard in to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Fontana is looking to defend but Dillard has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Fontana! Dillard pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Fontana taps out and this one is all over!
