And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steven Stifler!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Bruno Lombardi and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Savolas bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Savolas in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stifler is pushing Savolas's head away, looking to escape. Savolas manages to hold on to the position though.

Savolas wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stifler, who protects the arm well.
Stifler wants to get back to his feet.
Savolas working the ground and pound.
Stifler wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Savolas is looking to take a break and control but Stifler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Savolas tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Stifler is looking to clinch but Savolas is avoiding it.
Savolas lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Stifler backs up against the cage.
Stifler avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Stifler drives through and clinches with Savolas against the cage.
Stifler lands a knee to the head.
Stifler wants to break the clinch but can't.
Savolas fails to pull guard.
Stifler lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

Savolas pulls Stifler into guard.
Savolas is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Stifler has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Savolas is proving hard to escape from.
Savolas is breathing heavily.

Savolas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Stifler trying to stand up but can't free himself from Savolas's guard.

Stifler is sitting in close to Savolas's body. Savolas has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Stifler is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Stifler is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Savolas.
