PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steven Stepp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rainer Zufall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zufall is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Rammstein - Sonne. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Steven Stepp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rainer Zufall!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stepp gets caught flat footed, as Zufall shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Zufall wants to control from the top but Stepp keeps moving.
Zufall tries to free his leg and advance position but Stepp is retaining full guard.
Stepp is looking to stand up but Zufall isn't so interested in that idea.
Stepp throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Stepp will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Zufall wants to control from the top but Stepp keeps moving.
Zufall wants to pass the guard but Stepp is keeping the position.
Stepp bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Zufall's guard.
Stepp postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stepp stopping the sweep attempt from Zufall.
Stepp distracts Zufall with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zufall preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Stepp prevents Zufall from getting back to his feet.
Zufall really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stepp. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stepp works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Stepp missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Stepp wants to take a breather but Zufall is having none of it.
Zufall tries to get to full guard but Stepp has control of the leg.
Stepp slips a nice elbow through Zufall's hands, connecting with Zufall's forehead.
Stepp thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Zufall's head.
Stepp is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Stepp is taking a breather. Zufall says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Zufall wants to improve his position but Stepp is controlling well.
Stepp trying to control from half guard but Zufall is working away.
Stepp lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Stepp has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Stepp throwing shots but Zufall is blocking nicely.

Zufall trying to hold on to Stepp's head to control him but Stepp postures up.
Zufall looks like he's trying to stand up.

Zufall is in trouble now - Stepp has advanced to mount!
Zufall is bucking up trying to escape but Stepp cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Zufall looks gassed!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Zufall is rocked!
Stepp trying to control but Zufall is having none of it.
Stepp loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Zufall scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Stepp land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Stepp stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steven Stepp!
