Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnny Wellies! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jd Kay! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Illya Tyunina and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A shot to the body from Kay misses so Wellies counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Wellies wants to control from the top but Kay keeps moving. Wellies tries to free his leg and advance position but Kay is retaining full guard. Kay is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Kay looking for a guillotine here but Wellies defends easily.
Wellies wants to control from the top but Kay keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kay has his foot on Wellies's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wellies works his way back into a safe position though. Wellies trying to control but Kay is working from the bottom. Kay keeping full guard, as Wellies tries to pass.

Wellies stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kay swivels though and keeps the full guard. Kay tries to land a sweep but no joy. Kay is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Wellies trying to control but Kay is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Johnny Wellies just wasn't active enough. Wellies avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kay throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Wellies counters with a flying knee. Nice. Wellies takes a body punch but keeps moving. Wellies tries to clinch but fails miserably and Kay counters with a lovely shot to the body. Wellies tries a head kick but it misses.
Kay takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Wellies tries to clinch but fails miserably and Kay counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. A head kick from Kay lands but Wellies takes it in his stride. A head kick by Wellies misses and Kay counters with a slapping leg kick. Kay shoots in and drives through. Wellies sprawls well. Kay will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Wellies throws a sloppy head kick and Kay moves out of range easily. Kay swings for the body but Wellies moves out of range.
Wellies throws a head kick that misses and Kay decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wellies's guard. Kay working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kay throwing strikes from guard but Wellies blocks nicely. Kay throws and elbow that misses. Wellies uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kay's guard. Nice move by Wellies! Wellies tries to free his leg and advance position but Kay is retaining full guard. Wellies is breathing heavily. Kay has his foot on Wellies's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wellies works his way back into a safe position though. Kay is looking for a triangle but Wellies pushes his legs off easily.

Jd Kay dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Kay shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wellies's guard. Kay wants to control from the top but Wellies keeps moving. Kay being controlled here momentarily. Kay looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Kay working some strikes from top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kay drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Wellies dives on top into guard. Wellies is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Wellies trying to control the position from guard on top but Kay is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wellies stands and throws Kay's legs to the side, diving into side control. Kay tries to get back to half guard but can't. Kay struggling a bit here.

Kay is not content to let Wellies control the position. Kay is looking for a sweep. Wellies trying to control the position but Kay is working away. Kay is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Kay manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Kay looking to ground and pound but Wellies is blocking nicely. Wellies is in all sorts of trouble here.
Kay looking to finish Wellies with some ground and pound. This is bad for Wellies! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kay is in the full mount, landing strikes. Kay looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Wellies wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Kay.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Kay with good strikes from the mount here! Kay unloading with bombs! Kay trying to control but he's not successful this time. Kay lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Kay throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Jd Kay showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Wellies tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Kay counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Kay pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Kay fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jd Kay is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wellies wants to clinch and Kay counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Wellies throws a leg kick which misses Kay's front leg but catches the back leg as Kay tries to avoid it.

Wellies looking to sit in guard and control but Kay gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Kay throwing strikes from guard but Wellies blocks nicely. Kay with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kay postures up in Wellies's guard and throws a big left but Wellies blocks it. Jd Kay has got the better of the ground game so far. Kay working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Kay trying to control but Wellies is working from the bottom. Kay throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Kay is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Wellies has momentary wrist control but Kay slips an elbow through the middle. Kay stands up from Wellies's guard - Kay perhaps looking for a knockout. Wellies takes one to the chin there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kay misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kay shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wellies as he jumps to the side. Kay is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Wellies rather than just go for the knockout. Kay lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Wellies tries to clinch but Kay moves away and Kay counters with a nice kick to the body. Kay lands with a kick to the temple. Wellies shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Kay with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kay lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Kay misses with a two punch combination.
Kay misses with a wild body shot. Johnny Wellies has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Kay misses with a wild body shot. Wellies darts in trying to clinch and Kay counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Jd Kay is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Kay thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Wellies if he has to take too many more of those.
Kay gets a takedown into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Jd Kay comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Kay has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
