Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ben Harper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Reis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harper comes to the cage accompanied by Welcome To Jamrock. Reis has chosen Master Of Puppets as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ben Harper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rodrigo Reis! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harper fails in his attempt to clinch. Harper tries to close the distance and clinch but Reis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Harper tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Reis paws at him with a jab and circles away. Harper tries to clinch there but Reis circles away.
Reis will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Reis. Reis throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Harper. Harper tries to close the distance and clinch up but Reis swats him away and circles back towards the center. Reis displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Reis keeps the fight on the outside. Harper looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Harper fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reis throws a left and a right that both miss
and Harper counters into the clinch. Nicely done. A frustrated look appears on Reis's face as he tries to break the clinch. Reis wants to break free but Harper has control.
Reis tries to break the clinch but Harper is controlling the position. Harper keeps control of Reis as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Harper using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Reis has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Harper has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Reis avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Harper connects with a nasty looking knee right to Reis's face.

It looks like Rodrigo Reis has been cut. Reis is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Harper lands an elbow inside. Harper pulls guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Harper is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Reis wants to stand and escape but instead Harper has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harper trying to stand up but can't free himself from Reis's guard. Harper gets to his feet. Reis looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Harper shoots in looking for a takedown. Reis tries to sprawl out of it but Harper keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Reis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Harper. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Reis slaps away a takedown attempt from Harper, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Harper moves into the clinch. Harper gets control of Reis's arms and successfully pulls guard. Harper will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reis stands up from guard. Let's bang! Reis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Harper is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Nice body punch from Reis.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A clash of legs there as Harper blocks the low kick. Harper tries to clinch but Reis moves out of range. Harper tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Reis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Harper tries to clinch up but Reis circles away and keeps his distance. Harper pushes Reis up against the cage in a clinch. Reis wants to break free but Harper has control.
Harper is trying to drag Reis to the mat but Reis just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Harper misses with a knee strike.
Reis is trying to push Harper away but Harper has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Reis is trying to break the clinch but Harper has him pressed against the cage. Harper lands a nice knee to the body. Reis wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Harper landing knees to the head.

Ben Harper dominated that round. The cut man is working on Rodrigo Reis's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Reis looks to land a combination but Harper avoids it well. Reis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Reis throws a right hand that Harper ducks under and follows up with a left that Harper also avoids with ease. Harper shoots in for a takedown but Reis shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Harper dodges the punch combination from Reis.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Reis swats away the attempt to clinch by Harper. Harper misses with a combination
and Reis counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Reis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Harper shoots in and drives through. Reis sprawls well. Harper clinches. Harper pulls guard effortlessly. Reis wants to stand but Harper is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Harper has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A left lands for Reis.

Reis throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Harper gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Reis tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Harper's elbow. Harper prevents Reis from breaking the clinch. Reis is fending him off so far but Harper persists. Nope, Reis circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Harper. That's going to take a lot out of him. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Harper tries to close the distance and clinch up but Reis swats him away and circles back towards the center. Harper rushes Reis and presses him up against the cage. Harper has Reis pressed against the cage, preventing Reis from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Harper lands an elbow that stopped Reis in his tracks for a moment. Reis gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Harper.

Harper rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Reis moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Harper wants to clinch up but Reis keeps it at a distance. Harper swinging wildly here.

Rodrigo Reis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ben Harper is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Harper is looking to clinch. Reis misses with a wild combination.
And that's the end of the fight! Ben Harper showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Harper, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
