PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pat McCrotch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane MacLain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McCrotch comes into the arena with When the Man Comes Around blaring out of the sound system. MacLain has chosen Drowning Pool - Bodies (Let The Bodies Hit The Floor as his entrance music. Shane MacLain is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pat McCrotch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane MacLain!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacLain tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
McCrotch throws an uppercut from half a mile away. MacLain sees it coming and avoids it easily.
McCrotch tries to clinch but fails miserably

and MacLain counters with a nice double leg into side control. McCrotch won't be happy with that.
MacLain tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
MacLain throwing strikes but McCrotch manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
MacLain avoids any damage from the ground and pound of McCrotch.

McCrotch's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

MacLain shoots in for a takedown but McCrotch shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

MacLain shoots for a takedown but McCrotch saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

McCrotch lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by McCrotch.

It looks like Shane MacLain has been cut.
McCrotch ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

MacLain tries to keep at a distance but McCrotch has taken the fight into the clinch.

McCrotch has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

McCrotch's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

MacLain has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from McCrotch finds it's way round the side to connect with MacLain's head.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, McCrotch creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
McCrotch tries to stall but MacLain uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

MacLain's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

McCrotch is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
MacLain looks to land a strike but McCrotch avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
MacLainis looking to pass into half guard but McCrotch pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now McCrotch is in guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Pat McCrotch will probably get the nod.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

With the fighters up against the cage, McCrotch throws an elbow but misses.
MacLain dodges an elbow strike from McCrotch.
McCrotch working some nice short punches in the clinch.

MacLain escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
MacLain avoids a punch combination nicely.
McCrotch looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
MacLain pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces McCrotch back to the cage. MacLain follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
MacLain misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McCrotch bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps MacLain's head backwards.
MacLain avoids a punch combination nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now McCrotch is on top in guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McCrotch's corner is telling him to maintain position.

McCrotch tries to bum rush MacLain with a series of wild strikes but MacLain uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

MacLain shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches McCrotch napping and manages to drive through into side control!

McCrotch is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
MacLain thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McCrotch avoids a strike by MacLain and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in MacLain's guard! Fantastic escape!
