The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Russell Pearce and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benitez looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Benitez shoots for a double leg takedown but Jones sprawls well. He's pushed Benitez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Benitez as he avoids it easily.
Benitez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Benitez throws the kick towards the body but Jones avoids it.
Benitez takes one on the button.
It looks like Nigel Benitez has been cut.
Benitez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jones.
Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jones wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Jones scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Benitez doesn't seem bothered though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Benitez takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Jones comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Benitez gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Jones.
Benitez looks gassed!
Benitez throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
A decent looking cross lands there for Jones.
Benitez is rocked!
Jones measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Benitez! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!
