The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meridius tries to clinch
and Nahasapeemapetilon counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Nahasapeemapetilon.
Meridius wants to get back to his feet but Nahasapeemapetilon is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Meridius is adopting a defensive guard.
Nahasapeemapetilon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Meridius swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Nahasapeemapetilon sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Meridius's guard.
Nahasapeemapetilon trying to control the action but Meridius is working from the bottom.
Meridius on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Meridius tries to get out of the position.
Nahasapeemapetilon is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nahasapeemapetilon is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Meridius sees it coming and defends easily.
Meridius is looking for a sweep. Nahasapeemapetilon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Nahasapeemapetilon wants to pass the guard but Meridius is defending well.
Nahasapeemapetilon stands up from half guard.

It looks like Maximus Meridius has been cut.

and Meridius counters with a series of strikes. Nahasapeemapetilon will be more careful next time no doubt.
Meridius throws a hook but Nahasapeemapetilon avoids it easily.

Nahasapeemapetilon gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Meridius.
Nahasapeemapetilon ducks under a wild hook from Meridius.

and Meridius takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nahasapeemapetilon jabs Meridius right on the nose. Meridius blinks but takes it well.
Nahasapeemapetilon is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Meridius.
Meridius tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nahasapeemapetilon swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nahasapeemapetilon swats away the attempt to clinch by Meridius.
Nahasapeemapetilon misses with a looping left.
Meridius throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Meridius throws a left and a right that both miss
and Nahasapeemapetilon counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Meridius fails with an attempt to clinch.
Maximus Meridius seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Meridius rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Nahasapeemapetilon counters with a right hand that sends Meridius tumbling to the canvas! Can Nahasapeemapetilon finish him? He dives into Meridius's guard looking to do just that!
Meridius is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nahasapeemapetilon loads up on a big left hand. Meridius felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Nahasapeemapetilon looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Meridius can't hide his disappointment, as Nahasapeemapetilon celebrates the victory.
